Good news for small and medium-sized manufacturers around the nation

MANUFACTURING EXTENSION PARTNERSHIP (MEP)

NIST MEP Meets Deadline to Issue Emergency Assistance Program Funding
The CARES Act provided $50 million to NIST MEP to fund the MEP Centers for the implementation of projects to assist manufacturers in preventing, preparing for and responding to impacts related to COVID-19. As of June 30, all 51 MEP Center applications for nearly $50 million in CARES Act funding have been processed and approved. NIST MEP staff are grateful to the NIST Grants Management Division team for their support in the monumental achievement of administering all 51 awards within 81 days after the request for applications was issued!

Each MEP Center’s application included a project plan on how they would help manufacturers in their area recover from business and supply chain interruptions, apply for private insurance claims and disaster loans from the Small Business Administration, and access other resources at the federal, state and local level.

Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) is a public-private partnership with Centers in all 50 states and Puerto Rico dedicated to serving small and medium-sized manufacturers. Last year, MEP Centers interacted with 28,213 manufacturers, leading to $15.7 billion in sales, $1.5 billion in cost savings, $4.5 billion in new client investments, and helped create or retain 114,650 jobs.
